As many know, October is recognized as breast cancer awareness month. Raising awareness aims to raise funds that support the fight against breast cancer, through medical research, and providing financial aid to those fighting breast cancer. Additionally, raising awareness causes an increase in detection of possibly cancerous growth, which allows them to be treated at earlier stages. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women, with more than 2.3 million people diagnosed in 2022.
Catoctin High School’s varsity athletics has shown support towards breast cancer awareness throughout the month of October. For example, the varsity football team had a pink out game against Middletown on October tenth, and the varsity volleyball team had a pink out match on October seventh against Brunswick. You can support the fight against breast cancer by making online donations to various foundations, including the National Breast Cancer Foundation, The Pink Fund, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and many more.
